Cat got the Honorable Lenox Shuman’s Tongue:
I am disgusted as any reasonable person about the alleged rape of an Indigenous teen by a sitting minister of the government. It is alleged that he used his position as minister to groom and lure a teen to satisfy his predatory sexual vices.
I have a few questions. Where are the democratic Gods that represent the ABC countries? I know that they are fraudulent people because they forced Guyana to accept a very flawed election result. That is something that they would not accept in their own countries. For “so-called” bastions of democracy, they seem to not understand that “democracy” is more than elections. Why are they silent when the installed government breaks democratic norms like “good governance”? That I understand because they have a puppet government and would overlook their indiscretions as long as they do their bidding. This is a normal operating modus throughout the world. It will change eventually. It has lasted for too long already but they are slowly losing their grip on the world and there is nothing that can change the direction of that movement.
Now, for the Honourable Lenox Shuman. He used his people to get a seat in Parliament. He even used his cultural dress to fool everyone. He is just a narcissistic opportunist. I remember his behaviour during the election standoff. He was working for his piece of the pie. However, I am convinced that he has been fooled. The leaders of the PPP are indecent people who would use anyone to get power. Politicians are such hypocrites that they do not see how stupid they are. They survive because people ignore their faults and not because they are ignorant. That is why sometimes they find themselves in serious trouble.
Why is the Honourable Lenox Shuman quiet about the alleged rape of one of his people. I say this because he said that he represents the interests of Indigenous people as well as all Guyanese. That is understood. The Indigenous people are a minority who do not have the political power of the major races and require “affirmative action”. I quote from the newspaper “Prime Minister Mark Phillips yesterday expressed “profound disappointment” at a charge by Deputy Speaker of the House, Lenox Shuman that the government has not consulted with the Indigenous Peoples on key issues”.
What is the Honourable Lenox Shuman’s price? Is it the deputy speaker that he has to give up? Is it money? He should represent his people’s interest and must say something about the handling of the allegations. The government has carried out an end-run on the case to save one of its own. Why doesn’t the Honourable Shuman represent his people? You can represent your people and the rest of Guyana at the same time. Indigenous people have been abused and impoverished by colonialism and that continues to today. Special attention must be given to our Indigenous people. There can be no charge for trying to advance our Indigenous people.
